William P. Young’s recent book The Shack
I am currently in the middle of reading this book (Ch. 8: The Breakfast of Champions), and found a review website (click here) full of opposing views about this book.
Say what you will, I am going to finish the book before I comment.
Has anyone else read this book?

Not through the book yet, finding myself a little distracted lately.
I did find a considerable amount of discussion about this book on WonderCafe:

Yes, I've read it. I quite liked it. It's funny how much discussion a creative interpretation of the Trinity produces. It's also very telling about your own theology - I mean that your reaction to Young's trinitarian idea will say more about you than it does about Young.
Many of the objectors find it to unorthodox - a black woman as God - an Asian woman (sort of) as the Holy Spirit - and of course a mediterannean guy as Jesus (that one wasn't much of a stretch).
Personally, I found his trinitarian idea a bit too orthodox - like he was trying to be creative with it but didn't want to tick off too many people so he hemmed it in again.
It's quite a melodramatic book at times - but it's also quite moving, and at times incredibly profound. I wouldn't use it to explain my theology - but I definitely enjoyed his creativity and his attempt to get outside of the orthodox box.
I hope you enjoy the rest of it.
