100627 Richard Rolle pp. 129-135

My apologies for being slow this week.  I actually wasn't - it was Rogers that was not cooperating.  We were without internet (and my son actually survived the ordeal although I think a lot of Coke and chips were consumed to mitigate the trauma!) but we're back now.  So here are this week's questions:

1. Richard Rolle describes his spiritual experiences as being accompanied by a sensation of warmth, which he compares to a fire.  Have your ever felt any physical sensations in a time of worship or devotion?
2. What activities fan the flame of devotion in your life? Consider reading, hearing good preaching, praying, being in fellowship with others, enjoying creation, and any other spiritual activities in which you engage.
3. Rolle writes, "People become like what they love."  What (or who) are some of your loves, and how have you become like them?
4. The devil, notes Rolle, may have possession of those who appear religious on the outside ("the busy worker, or even the compelling preacher,"  for example).  What three characteristics clearly help us stand in opposition to the devil?
5. Jesus warns us not to hide our light, as a person who lights a candle and then hides it, but instead encourages us to put our light on a stand.  How can you as an individual or as a group be a light in a darkened world?

Happy Canada Day!
